CubeCart uses the powerful and sleek Smarty 3 template system. So long as you have basic HTML & CSS experience it is possible to achieve almost any design and layout you can imagine. If you don't have HTML & CSS experience it might be good to find someone who does to do this for you (checkout our solution partners) or to have a look at http://www.w3schools.com for some great free tutorials.
Stage 1 - Creating a copy of an existing skin to work from
It is important to copy and existing skin before starting. This way your layout changes won't be lost when upgrading your store in the future.
Bundeled in CubeCart v5 is a basic black and white skin called Vanilla. This has been designed to act as a simplistic skin to work from but it is possible to start using any of the skins included.
